Theme: Learning for Lasting Peace

The theme for 24th January,2024 which is the International Day of Education is Learning for Lasting Peace.

Education is the right of every child. Through learning and education, nations of the world achieve development. 

Without inclusive and equitable quality education  for every child, countries will not succeed in  breaking the cycle of underdevelopment and poverty that has left millions of children, youth and adults behind.

The International Day of Education serves to remind leaders that over  250 million children and youth are out of school, and 763 million adults are illiterate. Their right to education is being violated and it is unacceptable. It’s time to transform education.

All over the world, there is a surge of violent conflicts due to the rise of discrimination, racism, xenophobia, and hate speech. The impact of this violence cut across regions, gender, race, politics, offline and online.

In order to ensure peace, there is a need for immediate attention to education and learning.

What Does Learning for Lasting Peace Mean?

Learning for Lasting peace is education that promotes inclusion and child’s safety.

  • Learning that gives room for both genders.
  • A learning for Lasting peace gives place to children irrespective of backgrounds.
  • Whether offline or online learning should be made for all.
  • Irrespective of regions education should impact every child’s life.
  • Learning brings about development and innovation.
  • Through learning and exposure to education lives are changed.
